Online bookie BetLion is planning an expansion into the competitive Kenyan market after it submitted a licence from the country’s Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB).
BetLion, which has quickly established itself as a strong brand in Uganda since launch earlier this year, could start its Kenyan operations by the end of the year, according to Business Daily Africa.
The company operates on the FSB Technology platform and plans to expand into in eight African countries, including Zambia and others in West Africa.
BetLion is co-owned by Victor Chandler, the founder of BetVictor and a famous name in global betting circles known as ‘the gentleman bookmaker’.
Earlier this year BetLion strengthened its management team with the appointment of betting and gaming industry veteran Peter Stagles.
Stagles joins BetLion from 21Bet, where he was Head of UK – Global Gaming Manager, having previously worked for the likes of Rank Group and Blue Square in the past.
